when i was teaching ESL a few years ago, i made a list of "survival words" for my students to learn. i.e.: cup, fork, bed, house, car, water, food, etc. they were able to express themselves, perhaps not always gramatically, but could make themselves understood. while i was studying italian, i used the same method for myself. i found that one could get across meaning, using lots of nouns & verbs. grammar came later. that was a method that i found helpful in both cases. jodina, you are astounding!...i love your blog. thank you, zingara
