Very useful post. Thanks! But shouldn't your pronunciation guide in the title be DAH-ray, not dah-RAY?

You're absolutely right. When Italians want to switch from formal to informal, they ask, "Possiamo darci del tu?" Can we give each other "il tu," the informal you. I always think of it as the first step toward giving--and finding--friendship. Grazie.
